In this fourth electric album A.I. bravely compares themselves to the success story of the great Jimi Hendrix.
Helen of Troy was the face that launched a thousand ships, but in this case, Audio Imagery’s mystery girl launched their 13 tracks to their beyond-stellar fourth album. Whoever this girl is, (fiction or not), she is definitely magnetic, made infamous by Audio’s unique harmonies and ultra-spectacular sound. Inspiration from the Great Jimi Hendrix“Electric Lady”, Audio Imagery’s fourth full length album, named after Jimi Hendrix’s 1968 album was self-produced by the group except for three tracks off the album that was co-produced by Don Debiase of Studio D Productions. Audio Imagery stated that the reason for the album name being the same as the Jimi Hendrix album of 1968 is that: "Mr. Hendrix was at the pinnacle of his career when he created the ground breaking album that many consider one the most influential rock albums to date... Audio Imagery is at their peak... Audio Imagery's Electric Ladyland is the future of Hip-Hop/Pop." Quite a statement made by a group that was relatively unknown until five years ago. Introducing…The group consists of three brilliant MCs and six other band members who bring to the turn tables their spectacular talent. A.I. began their music odyssey in 2003 as an unsigned band from Pennsylvania. Doing everything themselves, from writing their own lyrics to mixing, A.I. definitely has the guns to make it big. A.I.—Word GurusThese word-play gurus also know what it takes to make a hit. In the right hands A.I. will definitely be deftly maneuvering their way into the charts. Their Poker Face remix, one of a steady flux of remixes released digitally, coinciding with the release of their fourth epic album, has already hit the airwaves with great fanfare. Their loud fun style intertwined with their mad lyrical poetry gives for something to party about. Even their group name says this about them: that they are clever enough to not let mixing genres stop their fun. The term “audio imagery” an oxymoron in itself, showcases their word guru status. The group definitely has a great energy that can’t be missed. The mad beats off “Electric Lady” with its RB/Rap/Rock/Pop fusion crosses and covers all genres. The group does it well too, with voice over-harmonies that give a superb vibe of consistent fun. With such stellar tracks off their fourth album as “Electric Lady”, “Supagirl” and “Magnetic”, the album opens up as loud, fun, and energetic. But as the album moves on to its later tracks, the music gets darker and moodier. “Time Machine” has later remnants of Jay-Z and Kanye West. Edgier and less static pop, these later tracks spell out serious hip-hop, proving once again that this group can really do it all.
